Been a while since there has been any sort of costume progress on ye ol’ Tumblr. So with that said, here are the stupidly early stages of one of a pair of projects slated for this summer…specifically Japan Expo USA if it can be managed. That’s my hope and goal, because we have other things that need to happen after that.

The fabric that is pictured is what I am drafting things out with. This stuff was gonna go out the door today, and then, suddenly, I realized it was pretty close to what I needed for this craziness. But damn is it not one of the most heinous looking fabrics ever looks-wise. At least it handles OK enough for the purpose that I am forcing it to serve.

Dude. No. What the everloving fuck. I seriously hope you did not leave that for the maids to clean and if you did, the hotel charged you for it. That’s just… why. Why would you do that?

This. Take a washcloth and some rubbing alcohol and clean up the god damn body paint off the bathtub. You were not raised in a barn and people don’t get paid enough to clean up after a layer of BODYPAINT on the bathtub.

OP, if you see this comment, please reconsider the choices that led to this. I hope at the MINIMUM you tipped the maids enough for them to deal with this bullshit. Stained tubs like this seriously ruin things for EVERYBODY ELSE. Hotels do not like it when their property is damaged. With this sort of thing happening, some hotels may even choose to NOT LET THE CONVENTION BACK AGAIN. Please, do not EVER leave a convention bathroom in this state, unless you have alerted the front desk and are willing to pay for all damages. And even then, don’t. Please.

I’d like to point out that ANYONE who uses body paint/hair dye/messy STUFF for cosplay in a hotel room will understand that leaving a hotel like this is a Really Crappy Thing To Do.

Yes, maids are paid to clean up after you. But seriously, there’s cleaning and then there is excessive. I don’t think even several 20 dollar bills will cover this.

I say bring some cleaners and do some of this work yourself.

By the way, people who stay at the Hilton for Fanime: You wonder why they have you sign that stupid form when you check in? This is why.

So how many pieces of the outfits you see here do you see ending up in Rose of Versailles or Le Chevalier D’Eon :)

Notice I said pieces, because obviously the artists took some licenses. But at least now people who may be wanting to do costumes from these series (and more than a few others - I see hints of Last Exile in here too!) can get some schmancy inspirations for materials and details that could give realism to the artist designs.

I think I’ve posted this before, but I’m going to do so again. Why? Simple. I appreciate the good fortune I have had for my health and being able to get myself around, with or without a car. I have too many friends that are in states of health where a wheelchair is a fact of life, and in some of those cases, those wheelchairs only meet the most basic of needs, nothing beyond that, even if it would mean a better chance at a productive life.

And really, Demmie and her family are really busting ass to make this happen.

Team Robin has already met an their initial fundraising goals, but I’d like to see them achieve more (and if you’ve seen the prices on motorized wheelchairs? They are like small cars. :( ). I’d like to see them trend around, get a few more people interested in what they are doing. And if you are one of those that would rather buy something and have the proceeds go somewhere, there is that too, especially if you are any sort of geeky/comic type.

If you’re not in a position to give, forwarding counts.

They also have a Tumblr as well, if you’re not a fan of Facebook. Give them a peeksy eh?
